2. In brief

The website uses no analytics, advertising, tracking or embedded content from other providers. The only exception is the checkout of our payment provider Paddle in the shop. The SonarMapper software processes your survey data, projects, maps and reports only on your computer; it does not send usage statistics. It uses the internet only for the functions listed below.

3. Visiting the website

The website is hosted by ALL-INKL.COM – Neue Medien Münnich, Hauptstraße 68, 02742 Friedersdorf, Germany. When a page is requested, the server processes technically necessary data: IP address, date and time, requested address, amount of data transferred, browser and operating system, and the previously visited page. This serves to deliver the pages and to keep the server secure (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The host deletes the logs automatically after a short time. A data processing agreement is in place with the host. The connection is encrypted with TLS.

4. Cookies

We set only one cookie: "lang" stores your language choice (English or German) when you use the language switcher or close the language notice. It is valid for one year and is not shared. It is required for the function you requested (Section 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

5. Contact and orders by bank transfer

When you write to us, use the order form in the shop or order by e-mail, we process your details (for example name, company, address, e-mail address, order details, purchase order number, VAT ID) to answer your request or to perform the contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). The order form sends the details encrypted to our server, which forwards them to us by e-mail and sends you a confirmation of receipt; no database is created for this. To prevent abuse the server counts orders per IP address, storing only an irreversible hash value for one hour (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We keep order and invoice records for the statutory periods (up to ten years under German law); other messages are deleted when they are no longer needed.

6. Purchases in the online shop via Paddle

Purchases in the online shop are handled by Paddle.com Market Limited, Judd House, 18–29 Mora Street, London EC1V 8BT, United Kingdom. Paddle acts as the seller (reseller) and collects payment and billing data under its own responsibility; the Paddle privacy policy applies. For this, the shop page loads a script from Paddle (cdn.paddle.com), which gives Paddle your IP address and technical details of your browser.

After the purchase, Paddle sends us your e-mail address, where available your name or company and the cardholder name, the products bought and the transaction number. We use them to create, renew or extend your license and to send it to you by e-mail (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). The EU Commission has issued an adequacy decision for the United Kingdom (Art. 45 GDPR).

7. License: activation, renewal, modules

For online activation, for "Update online" and, with an internet connection, at most once a week at program start (checking whether the license was renewed or a module was added), SonarMapper sends to our license server (sonarmapper.com): the license key, an identifier of the computer (the Windows machine ID) and the computer name. For the license we store name or company, e-mail address, term, add-on modules and number of devices; for each activation the machine ID, computer name and date. This serves to check the license and to limit it to the number of devices purchased (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). "Release on this computer" in the program deletes the activation. License data is kept for the term of the license and the statutory periods.

With offline activation you send us the same details as a request code by e-mail. Links from the program to the shop contain, instead of the license key, only a reference derived from it, which the shop page uses to show your license.

8. Other internet functions of the software

Update check: At most once a day SonarMapper downloads the description of the current version from sonarmapper.com. This transmits the IP address and the program version. It can be turned off under Help › "Check for updates automatically".

Background maps: When you turn on a background map, SonarMapper loads map tiles from basemap.de (Federal Agency for Cartography and Geodesy, Frankfurt am Main, Germany) or from OpenStreetMap (OpenStreetMap Foundation, United Kingdom). These providers receive your IP address and the map area shown. Without a background map, or with the offline map, nothing is transmitted.

Detect lake: This function requests water outlines from public Overpass servers for OpenStreetMap data (overpass-api.de, as fallback overpass.kumi.systems and overpass.private.coffee). This transmits your IP address and the map area.

Feedback: The button only opens your e-mail program; nothing is sent until you send the e-mail yourself.

9. Your rights

You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18) and data portability (Art. 20). You can object to processing based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (Art. 21). An e-mail to info@sonarmapper.com is sufficient. You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), for example the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information Baden-Württemberg, Lautenschlagerstraße 20, 70173 Stuttgart, Germany.

10. Changes

We update this policy when the website or software changes. The version published here applies. In case of discrepancies, the German version prevails.
